I'm really excited to announce that I'm offering my Crystal Rose Skin Clinic clients a fantastic new service since moving to my new skin clinic in Needham Market - microneedling with SkinPen Precision.
Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure using SkinPen Precision, the only medical grade FDA approved microneedling device available on the market. It's designed to rejuvenate your skin and help minimise both acne scarring and the signs of aging. I absolutely love it, and so do my clients. I know, there are always new treatments coming out that promise the world when it comes to giving us all younger and smoother looking skin, but for me, SkinPen is the real thing.
What is microneedling and does it really work?
According to a research study from way back in 2009, yes it does! According to this study which looked at people with acne scarring, almost 100% of participants reported a vast improvement after a treatment.
Microneedling involves rolling a device with small needles over the area that we're treating, to create a series of tiny punctures to your skin. These tiny wounds are picked up by your body as something that needs repairing, sending it into 'must fix this' mode, and stimulating it to produce stronger, firmer collagen, plumping and smoothing the area. If you're wary of needles, don't panic because the microneedles' length is very small, and SkinPen devices are even gentle enough to be used around the delicate eye area.
Microneedling with SkinPen could be used for you if you're looking for ;
- A procedure that can help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Something that's suitable for all skin types.
- A safe, effective procedure with a very short recovery time.
Come and have a chat with me if there's anything you'd like to know about the procedure or whether it will suit your skin's needs.
What's a SkinPen microneedling treatment actually like?
It's very gentle, and I'll carry it out in the lovely relaxing surroundings of the Crystal Rose Skin Clinic in Needham Market, where I'll talk you through it all at consultation stage and put you at ease before we begin.
I'll start by applying a topical anaesthetic cream to minimise any discomfort and then I'll treat the areas we're working on with the SkinPen. Everything will be tailored to suit your particular needs and there shouldn't be much downtime although you can expect some redness and swelling afterwards as your skin gets to work on repairing itself.
For most people this only lasts a few hours but depending on your personal tolerance level, it could last for a couple of days. Some people also see a little pinpoint bleeding and bruising.
You might see a very fast improvement in your skin - some people see a difference as soon as the swelling subsides. Your skin's natural repair process carries on working for a few weeks though, and if you have skin damage that's built up over a long period, you shouldn't expect it to be repaired immediately.
How many SkinPen procedures will i need?
This all depends on the level of damage that we're repairing and your skin's general health. We'll talk about that when we meet up and i'll give you my recommendations based on what we're trying to achieve. Most patients need at least three sessions, around four weeks apart.
