Hello to all my lovely clients – I can’t wait to see you again at my skin clinic in Needham Market, even if we’ve got to wait a little longer than anticipated. I will of course keep you up to date with opening dates and offers as soon as we get the go-ahead to reopen. The Encore Wellness centre has been thoroughly cleaned ready for you and we’re all raring to get back to work.
Meanwhile – how are you doing, moisture-wise? With the recent very hot weather, it’s even harder to keep your skin looking and feeling its best. Dehydration in very hot weather is a common problem and most of us don’t even know we are dehydrated until it’s too late. It’s not an old wives’ tale that by the time you feel thirsty, you’re already dehydrated. My tip would be to keep drinking water throughout the day; if you don’t like tap water and are worried about using too much plastic, get a filter jug or on-the-go filter bottle and take it with you wherever you go. You can buy lovely fruity tea bag infusions from most supermarkets to add to it if plain water isn’t your thing, but adequate hydration will do your skin, and your overall health, a world of good.
Even slight dehydration will affect your face and also your hands – especially with the amount of washing and harsh antibacterial hand gels we’re having to use at the moment. Dehydrated skin can feel dry and itchy and it might also have a dull appearance. Your facial skin tone and complexion may seem uneven, and it can also make those annoying fine lines more noticeable.
Is your skin dehydrated?
Try this pinch test to check your skin’s hydration levels…
Take a small area of the skin on your cheek area and squeeze it gently. Does it wrinkle when you squeeze? If so, and/or it doesn’t ping straight back to where it was when you release it, then it could well be dehydrated. If you’re not sure whether your problem is dehydrated skin or just that you naturally have dry skin, I can tell you – and of course I can help you with treatments in the clinic that will make sure that your hand and facial skin is gorgeously soft and hydrated again.
Radiofrequency devices like the one I use in my newest treatment, the GeneO+ 4-in-1 Super Facial have been used in skin rejuvenation treatments for many years, and with the GeneO+ you also get the benefit of technology that’s been inspired by natural hot springs. If your skin is in need of a deeply hydrating treat, the GeneO+ works by setting off a natural response in your skin that oxygenates and exfoliates, and the nourishing serums infuse your skin with beneficial ingredients that will help get you hydrated and looking gorgeous in no time.
It won’t be much longer before I can see you again, but in the meantime, keep drinking the water, don’t forget your sunscreen, and I’ll see you soon!
